Distributing fruit plants for homestead gardens.
As part of its program to improve household nutrition, Gene Campaign has been establishing homestead gardens growing vegetables. Here are some pictures of farmers receiving fruit trees to plant in their homestead gardens.
Plants of Kagzi Lemon, Pahadi Lemon, Malta, Orange, Mango and Guava were distributed to 98 farmers of 10 village (Simayal, Nathuwakhan, Meura, Kilore, Barait, Loshyani, Darim, Gargaun, Buribana and Majhera)
.
Gene Campaign competed successfully to get the award of a grant from the FAO-International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources Fund to work on the ‘Use of Genetic Diversity for Climate Change Adaptation’. The project is being implemented in four locations: Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
